From 17th Street to Government Contracts and Back Home

Isaac Garcia grew up on East 17th Street in Cheyenne, Wyoming. His father was a working electrician who spent his days running conduit, pulling wire, and making sure the lights came on for families across Laramie County. Isaac grew up watching his father’s hands: calloused, steady, and always precise. By the time Isaac was in high school, he knew his way around a breaker panel better than most adults.

But Isaac had bigger ambitions. He wanted an engineering degree. To pay his way through school, he entered a formal electrical apprenticeship. The plan was simple: wire houses during the day, study engineering at night, and graduate without debt. What Isaac did not expect was falling in love with the trade itself. There was something about the precision of electrical work: the logic of circuit design, the satisfaction of a clean panel, the responsibility of knowing that your work protects people.

Isaac earned his journeyman license, then his master electrician license. But before settling down, opportunity called from overseas. Isaac spent years working on power system upgrades for federal government contracts overseas. These were not ordinary projects. Government-contract electrical systems had to be perfect: built to withstand anything, inspected to the highest standards, and designed with zero tolerance for failure. A mistake did not just trip a breaker. It could compromise security for an entire federal facility.

That experience changed Isaac. He brought home a mindset that most local electricians simply do not have: the understanding that every wire, every connection, every panel matters. Not because an inspector might check it, but because someone’s safety depends on it.

Coming Home to Cheyenne

When Isaac and his wife decided to start a family, there was only one place to go: home. Cheyenne was growing. New subdivisions were spreading across the prairie, commercial development was picking up along Dell Range, and the city’s aging housing stock was long overdue for electrical upgrades. Isaac saw families struggling to find reliable electricians. He saw contractors cutting corners, unlicensed handymen wiring homes, and homeowners paying for work that would never pass inspection.
