We coordinate with the general contractor and the utility on service placement, set the meter base and main panel, establish the grounding electrode system, and lay out breaker spaces for every circuit in the plan plus room to grow. We schedule around the build so the panel is set and ready when the rough-in and inspection milestones arrive. This work pairs with our new construction electrical service.

Sub-Panel Installation

A sub-panel is a smaller panel fed from the main that provides dedicated breaker space in a specific area. We install sub-panels for finished basements, attic conversions, additions, and any part of the home that needs several new circuits. The sub-panel is fed with a properly sized feeder from the main, and we keep neutrals and grounds separated correctly, which is one of the most commonly botched details in sub-panel work. Done right, a sub-panel adds capacity exactly where you need it without touching the main service.

Detached Garage & Shop Panels

A detached garage, barn, or backyard shop needs power run to it and a panel of its own. We trench and run the underground feeder, set a panel in the structure, and establish a separate grounding electrode at the detached building as code requires. For new construction we work from the plans; for an addition, shop, or sub-panel we work from what you are actually adding. Correct sizing is what keeps the panel from running at its limit later.

Permit & Proposal

We pull the electrical permit with the City of Cheyenne and provide an itemized proposal covering the panel, feeder or service, grounding, breakers, trenching if needed, labor, and inspection. Installation & Wiring

How is a sub-panel different from just adding breakers?05

You can only add as many breakers as the main panel has spaces for, and many older panels are already full. A sub-panel is fed from the main with a single feeder and provides its own bank of breaker spaces in a new location, which is far cleaner than cramming tandem breakers into a packed main. It also puts the breakers for a space near that space, so the basement breakers are in the basement rather than across the house. For additions and finished spaces, a sub-panel is usually the better engineered solution.
